Since its inception in 1998, IBDD has taken up the goal of being a different organization. It has accepted the challenge to innovate, giving priority to actions in strategic areas to promote lasting changes in disabled people’s material and symbolic contexts. Thus, IBDD aims to effectively contribute to the realization of a citizenship culture – for and among the people with disabilities.

The strategy and parameters for institutional management which secure the necessary stability for the development of IBDD’s actions are the following:

Existing Service Capacity
Through its lines of action, IBDD has been directly serving around 7,000 people with disabilities per year and 14,000 indirectly.

IBDD's Work Main Charactheristics

IBDD’s work has parallel and complementing twofold dimensions tailored to society’s awareness raising process and participation in the construction of a new reality for the people with disabilities.

Conjunctural Dimension
Actions focused on the individuals with disabilities, such as: job placement, readiness for work training, lawsuits to secure violated or threatened rights, and sport activities as a tool for physical and social rehabilitation.

Structural Dimension
Actions focused on and for society aiming at shedding a light on excluding practices, contributing to the development of new social policies, and building a new social construct of disability that contemplates its qualities of strength, movement and beauty.

IBDD's Institutional Development Program

IBDD’s Institutional Development program manages the insitutional relationship between IBDD and its partner corporation.
