Job Placement

The Job Placement Program aims at improving the social and economic conditions of people with disabilities while promoting IBDD institutional sustainability, by supporting corporations in hiring disabled professionals, and cooperating with corporate initiatives of social inclusion and responsibility.

IBDD promotes formal employment of disabled people as a fundamental condition to an inclusive attitude, equality of opportunities and the exercise of full citizenship within the industry, commerce and services sectors.

The corporations become IBDD’s strategic partners when hiring disabled professionals. However, IBDD is aware that these corporations face some challenges, such as: a) the lack of understanding and information by employers and employees about disability; b) the lack of experience from corporations’ human resources departments in evaluation and selection of disabled professionals; and c) the precarious education and professional training of most disabled people.

Thus, to engage corporations in the cause of disabled people, IBDD offers them the following pro bono support services:

  1. Referral of disabled professionals to corporations interested in hiring them;

  2. Workshops to sensitize employers and employees;

  3. Analysis of architectural conditions of accessibility at the workplace;

  4. Training on selection and hiring of disabled professionals to corporations’ human resources departments.

In addition to supporting its own mission, the services IBDD offers to corporations generate income to secure its institutional sustainability. Thus, IBDD is able to invest in quality performance and institutional sustainable growth. IBDD’s income generating services are the following:

  1. Outsourcing Disabled Professionals to State Corporations:According to Brazilian legislation (Law 8.666), governmental corporations are not obliged to carry out bidding processes to hire disabled professionals from disability non-profit organizations for their medium-activities;

    As this means a unique opportunity to social inclusion, IBDD intensely dedicates itself to attract those governmental corporations to exercise their social responsibility towards the disability cause. IBDD’s disabled professional outsourcing program has as a major focus the promotion of disabled people’s economic rights. To partner with IBDD, governmental corporations are asked to secure that the salaries and benefits from outsourced disabled professional will be at the same level of their employees in similar positions;

  2. Customized Courses These courses are designed by IBDD to cater for demands from businesses in leveraging specific disabled people’s professional skills in their core activities.
